Founded in 2005 to increase the number of quality scripts featuring fighting roles for women. Winning script will be produced in Spring 2010 as part of Babes With Blades’ 2009-10 Season. The winning playwright will receive a $1000 cash prize. Email submissions preferred.

The Festival encourages submissions from every genre, from drama to musical comedy, to classical revivals and experimental productions. Every show must be accompanied by a producer and production team. MITF’s artistic thrust is on the script itself, and therefore asks for minimal production values.

For 2008 competition, the International Playwrights’ Forum paid attention to the clashes inherent in contemporary life. We had invited playwrights to write monodramas inspired by whatever ‘clash’ may mean to them. Monodrama is a medium where clashes can be seen in the individual.
