Atlantis Playmakers – Short Attention Span PlayFEST – The Sin Cycle

CHECK WEBSITE for the deadline-specific topic FIRST! … Our new works program will include an entire cycle of plays, “The Sin Cycle.” Every month begining in January, a new sin or two will be announced as the topic for that month’s entries. Each topic will have a specific deadline, but all will follow the guidelines below. Please note, individual themes have specific deadlines. “Sin Cycle” topics will be announced on February 1, March 1, April 1 and May 1. Entry deadlines are February 15, March 15, April 15 and May 15 respectively. Selected works MUST have their world premiere at the SAS PlayFEST. Entries must be typed, and include a cover page with the playwright’s name, address, phone, and e-mail. You do not need to use a specific script program. Old fashioned typing is fine. If by email, Word format ONLY.

POCKET THEATRE FESTIVAL: ΣΥΜΜΕΤΟΧΕΣ ΕΩΣ 29/2

Το Διαγωνιστικό Τμήμα του Pocket Theatre Festival θα διεξαχθεί φέτος στο Booze και στο Μέλι Studio. Οι προϋποθέσεις για να θεωρηθεί μια παράσταση «pocket theatre» είναι η λιτή σκηνογραφική άποψη, η απουσία οπτικοακουστικών εφέ, η περιορισμένη χρήση φωτισμών, η πρωτότυπη σκηνοθετική προσέγγιση, η αυτοσχεδιαστική δυνατότητα των ερμηνευτών. Οι υποψήφιοι (ερασιτέχνες και μη) ας γνωρίζουν ότι η κατάθεση των προτάσεων πρέπει να έχει ολοκληρωθεί έως 29/2. Οι παραστάσεις θα ανέβουν από 22/3 έως 20/4 2008. Ενημέρωση στο 210 3252998.

6th at Penn Theatre Qplays

NO FEE. 1 submission per playwright. Gay plays, 70-85min’s. 6th at Penn Theatre in San Diego, California is initiating QPlays, a new program of gay plays with the initial series of five productions to be staged Fall 2008-Winter 2009. Two non-musical plays are needed to complete the series. These plays will be given full productions with 16 performances over four weeks on our weeknight schedule (Sunday-Wednesday). Briefly: These may be new or previously staged scripts, on any subject, comedy or comedy-drama with performance time of 70-85 minutes; eroticism (including nudity) is acceptable (even encouraged!) if it’s honest and organic.

Envision Retreat and Laboratory: Voice and Vision

Voice & Vision is looking for projects initiated by women theater artists including performers, directors, writers, designers and groups of collaborators. Voice & Vision Theater’s annual summer retreat offers selected participants an artist-centered workshop environment where they can develop projects with women at the core. Voice & Vision provides ample rehearsal space on the Bard College campus, dramaturgical support, round-trip transportation from New York City, housing, a daily stipend and most meals.

Shorter & Sweeter for Kids

NO FEE. We’re creating a show that will consist of 10-minute-or-less plays for children. Again, the show has not been officially named yet – so for now, we’re calling it” shorter+Sweeter for Kids”. In fact, we’re really creating two shows: one aimed at 4-8 year olds, and one aimed at 8-12 year olds. Imagine a 40 minute show aimed at 4-8 year olds, then an”interval”where our audience turns over then a 50 minute show aimed at 8-12 year olds. The plan is that this children’s show will be professionally produced and toured. The idea is to create new contemporary stories for a younger audience, not just a retelling of traditional tales. The play must be suitable for either 4-8 year olds or 8-12 year olds, and can use at most 6 actors. Other than this, there are no restrictions on theme, topic, etc. Note that music and/or use of musical instruments (to be played or sung by our actors) is absolutely fine (provided there are no copyright infringements, of course). Note that the only formats we can accept are .doc, .pdf and .txt

Stage THIS! – presented by Fn Productions and E-Merging Writers

Monologues and short solo plays, 10 minutes or less. Includes optional critique by 3 judges in the profession, possible production and publication in third volume of Stage This.
Fn Productions is expanding the formerly biennial Stage This competition. Even numbered years, they team with E-Merging Writers to publish Stage This Yourself! Monologues and Short Solo Plays. Odd numbered years, they will continue to publish a collection of 10-Minute Plays. For 2008, the concentration is on monologues of 1 minute to 10 minutes in length.
